Directions To Riverside Retreat Riverside Retreat, is the location of many of the Gulf Coast Community's activities. The Camp is about five miles east of Alva, Florida on the Highway 78. It is situated on the north bank of the Caloosahatchee River in a peaceful rural setting and its modern dormitory style facilities make it a great place for a Walk to Emmaus. To reach the Riverside Retreat from Fort Myers, Florida, take Palm Beach Boulevard (Highway 80) east. Go past the I-75 interchange for a distance of twelve and one-half miles to a flashing yellow light at the junction of Highway 80 and Broadway Street. Turn north (left if you are coming from Fort Myers) on Broad Street and go over the bridge to the north side of the Caloosahatchee River. Just past the bridge is a stop sign where Broad Street intersects with Highway 78. On the north side of Highway 78 is Alva school. Turn right at the stop sign and you will be on Highway 78. After several blocks, the road will curve sharply to the left. Follow the road around the curve for about one-half of a mile, where highway 78 curves sharply again, but this time to the right. Follow the curve and head east on Highway 78 a distance of five and one-tenth (5.1) miles to the entrance to the Riverside Retreat. Signs for the Camp are located on each side of the Highway 78 and one small light identifies the driveway into the Camp. Turn right on the driveway and follow the direction signs to the Pavilion. |
